Mauser M 12 PURE review

Mauser M 12 PURE review

In 2004 after getting a 2nd opinion from another doctor, I was diagnosed with Spondylolisthesis. My vertebrae in my back were split apart and triggering my sciatic nerve in both legs, which every step brought a burning excruciating pain in the rear of both legs. The good thing it has done is make me more aware about ergonomics in firearms which many shooters neglect to take into consideration. Even though I have never been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) by the medical community, the symptoms are very similar to people who have been diagnosed with CTS.

The Mauser M 12 PURE dropped into my lap without much research done on my part when I heard about it being produced by Swiss Arms AG. I liked the idea of a straight pull bolt action rifle with no external safety and no magazine disconnect. It also came with a Picatinny rail which I could attach my bipod to without any modifications. The rifle has a polymer stock which is adjustable for length of pull and cheek rest height, and it can be fitted with a recoil pad to help tame the .308 Winchester recoil. The barrel is cold hammer forged and has a muzzle break which does an excellent job of reducing felt recoil.

I took the rifle out to the range for the first time and was very impressed with how well it shot. The trigger was smooth and crisp, and I didn’t experience any malfunctions whatsoever. Even though the rifle has a polymer stock, it is very well made and feels solid in your hands. The rifle also comes with a two-stage adjustable trigger, which is a nice feature to have. I was able to zero the rifle at 100 yards within just a few shots, and it was shooting 1″ groups consistently.

Overall, I am very impressed with the Mauser M 12 PURE rifle and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality bolt action rifle. The price point is also very reasonable, especially when you consider the features that are included. I would definitely buy this rifle again if I ever needed another bolt action rifle.

The Mauser M 12 PURE is an interesting rifle that has some unique features. It was designed as a precision rifle, and it definitely delivers in that regard. The barrel is free-floated, which helps to improve accuracy. The bolt is also precision-machined and features a two-lug design for smooth operation.

One thing that really sets the Mauser M 12 PURE apart from other rifles is its modularity. The stock, barrel, and bolt can all be replaced, which allows you to customize the rifle to your needs. This also makes it a great option for left-handed shooters, as they can easily swap out the components that are typically problematic for them.

Overall, the Mauser M 12 PURE is an excellent precision rifle that is sure to please. It’s accurate, reliable, and built to last. If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line precision rifle, the Mauser M 12 PURE is definitely worth considering.

A few weeks ago I received a package from Mauser with the latest addition to their rifle lineup: the M12 PURE.

The test gun that Mauser sent me is chambered in .308 Winchester and comes equipped with a 20-inch barrel, threaded for brake/suppressor use (5/8×24), as well as matching thread protector. Another popular caliber offered by Mauser USA at this time included in the M12 line is the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge, which has proven itself as an extremely accurate and efficient long range round capable of taking down virtually any game.

The trigger on the M12 PURE is adjustable twice; first at initial set up and second at final assembly. Factory trigger pull weight on my test gun was set at 3.2 pounds, but can be adjusted down to as little as 2.6 pounds or up to 4.0 pounds by the user if they desire. The rifle also features a two-stage adjustable match style trigger, and the bolt is easily removed without any tools for cleaning or maintenance.

The rifle arrived with a Magpul Hunter American stock in FDE color, and an AICS style 5-round magazine. Overall length with the 20″ barrel is 39.5″, and weight unloaded is 8.8 pounds which I found to be very manageable in the field, even while trekking through some rough terrain.

With optics mounted (I used a Burris 1-4x24mm riflescope), the M12 PURE proved to be a very accurate rifle with excellent ergonomics. The recoil impulse was straight back and proven to be mild enough for quick follow up shots, especially when used in combination with the brake/suppressor ready threaded barrel.

Another nice feature of this gun is that it can easily serve as an entry level tactical type precision rifle while at the same time competing favorably at long range F-Class matches. The adjustable stock and trigger allow shooters to fine tune the system to their liking, and all Mauser products come with a transferable lifetime unlimited warranty (regardless of how many times you sell or trade).

This rifle has proven to be a reliable, accurate at long range type system that can also shoot sub ½ MOA groups with hand loads and proper tuning. As I mentioned before the M12 PURE is chambered in .308 Winchester which is one of the most popular precision rifle calibers around due to availability of quality ammunition at many price points, accuracy at long ranges, and mild recoil.
